The brain and gut are intrinsically linked . The nervous system has been explored as being the link specifically the via the vagus nerve. Yet, more information is being revealed about how neurotransmitters and stress hormones may interface with the gut microbiome and effect gut function such as intestinal barrier function. In this episode I review a presentation I attended called Gates of Wrath: Role of intestinal epithelial cells in Stress response by Dr. Jacob Allen as part of the May, 2020 Microbiome Summit. We dig into the research he is doing about how stress effects the microbiome and how it effects the intestinal lining ultimately.  Fascinating how the brain and gut interface to act favorably or unfavorably.  #microbiome #microbioata #stress #HPA Axis. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/adam-rinde/support
