Episode 1.  Shruti Swamy, Brown Handler Resident and author of the forthcoming A House Is A Body from Algonquin press, starts off our new author reading and conversation series, Writing in Lockdown. Each of the six writers in the program will share from a project they've worked on during they're time as a resident, and then have an intimate conversation with either Lisa Brown or Daniel Handler. For more info, go to FriendsSFPL.org. Shruti will be reading the short story "The Siege," from her collection, and will discuss writing in isolation, favorite library branches, and the publishing industry with Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket).   ________________________________________________   What's the Brown Handler Writer's Residency? Two years ago, Lisa Brown and Daniel Handler (aka Lemony Snicket) created this Writer's Residency to provide local writers with free, adequate, and accessible space to produce creative work in San Francisco. Residents were able to work directly with the Library in tandem with their creative projects. The residents were using the space until the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
