Part 1 Being an artist is hard sometimes but there’s not much else that Pamela loves to do more than to create art, except for talking about art with other artists. Specifically talking about how to be more productive, more authentic, more free, and braver; She really loves that. Pamela is the creator and facilitator of Strong Artist Life and a professional abstract painter pursuing my career as a fine artist. She knew she wanted to be an artist when she was in kindergarten and studied Fine Art in college. Pamela has created art her whole life and spent too much of her adult life working in the corporate world at the peril of her artistic productivity. Pamela spent most of her life in Houston and then became a bit of a vagabond for a few years moving from Texas to Wisconsin, to Washington, to Florida, to Michigan, and back to Florida. 108. Why a daily creative habit?

John McDavitt is a professional artist who has made his living as an artist and designer serving clients for the past 30+ years. He began airbrushing t-shirts at the age of 18. Airbrushing led to being hired as a consultant for Badger Airbrush. His strong drawing and painting skills along with his background in special f/x makeup made for a natural transition into toy design. Projects have included Happy Meal toys, ride-on toys, games, pinball machines and Thomas the Train wooden vehicles. John has painted many residential and public mural projects over the years. In 1999, John purchased a Mac computer and began working in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. He is also proficient in Procreate. His product catalog includes Star Wars, Disney Princesses, Winnie the Pooh, Spider-man and other Marvel properties and Thomas the Train. 107. Creative Chat with Visual Artist John McDavitt

Jim Rennert was born in 1958, and grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Salt Lake City, Utah. After 10 years of working in business Jim started sculpting in 1990. He became an expert in the lost-wax casting method, a process that harkens back to Bronze Age, which produces a duplicate metal sculpture from the original sculpture. He began exhibiting in galleries in 1993 and has since gained significant recognition. He continues to exhibit at the major art fairs in Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City, and has been featured in publications such as Sculptural Review, American Art Collector, and The Inquirer and Mirror. His work is in numerous private and public collections, including the Utah Governor’s Mansion, Terra Industries, GSL Electric, The Church Museum of History and Art, and the Granite Education Foundation. Rennert comes from a business background, having made the decision to pursue his career in sculpture over 20 years ago. His works deal with the physical or psychological challenges of the competitive corporate world, often incorporating figures dressed in business attire and symbolic objects such as briefcases and ladders. The titles work with the pieces to solidify the concepts, and sometimes they reflect on the daily struggles and achievements with a sense of humor and irony. Laura Jane Petelko is a Canadian photographic artist, currently based in Toronto, Canada. Having studied in Vancouver, Laura Jane began her career in the arts there in the early 2000’s. Petelko studied and worked as a master printer for west coast based photographic artists such as Harmony Korine, Kelly Wood, Roy Arden, and Mark Gilbert. Laura Jane was represented by Vancouver’s Third Avenue Gallery for several years before she moved back to Toronto. Currently, Laura Jane is evolving two bodies of work. Featured here is the nostalgic and sparse Endless Gone series, which has been featured at the 2018 opening of the New York City’s Highline project by the late Zaha Hadid. The more enigmatic Soft Stories explores our longing for connection with nature and our sense of intimacy. It was featured by Scope Fair Miami and New York in 2019 and in Blank Spaces magazine following her solo exhibition in Toronto in late 2019. Her photographs are characterized by their personal and intimate subject matter, often dealing with the nature of one’s identity and themes of transformation.
