Some months ago I had a chance to visit Rutherglen in North-Eastern Victoria to meet up with David Morris and taste through his range of wines - including some of the world's best fortified wines. It was a good time to visit as the last year had been a bit traumatic for David. Just before the winery notched up its 160th Birthday, it was almost sold out from under him and the brand, which bears his family name, was well on the way to the scrapheap.
