From Sobriety To Recovery: An Addiction Recovery Podcast

Miscellaneous

Ep #141 - Hiding our true selves from ourselves or our loved ones serves to conceal what we are truly thinking, feeling, and experiencing from ourselves and them. Wearing masks is meant to hide something, to be someone we are not, to conceal our true identity from those around us and from the person looking back at us in the mirror. Superheroes wear masks so people won't know who they truly are. Sure, it works in comics, sort of...how many of those characters actually suffer because of this hiding behind a mask. How many of them have "less than" lives because the people in their actual life aren't able to be a part of the heroes super life? In your journey from sobriety to recovery you are well aware there are not heroes, or villains, and you certainly are not a victim. You are the creator of your reality and there are challengers and coaches that push you beyond your self-imposed limitations. Today we are going to dive head first into the discussion of taking off the masks we have worn for far to long so that our loved ones can see us for who we are and embrace the real us because that is who they have wanted all along - and if they don't want the real you then you get to decide if they get to stay or go. Most importantly, I want you to be able to see you for who you really are so you can decide if what is looking back at you is serving your highest purpose. It is time to take off the masks and connect with the version of ourselves that has been hiding behind the facade for all these years. I promise you you are not a monster. You are love. You are exactly who you are because of the life you've lead and now that you are entrenched in the Empowerment Dynamic you are the creator of your life...you are your Gamemaster.   Just hit play and let's dive in with our open minds, hearts, and energies bringing everyone into the fold - you are in the right place, at the right time...right now. Stand up, step forward, raise your hand - it's your turn, I will call on you. ******************************************** Thank you so much for listening and being a part of my tribe and this wonderfully supportive community.
