This week on the show we talked to Matt Butler who is the author of Billy Goes Hunting. This book was written in response to his daughter being bullied at school for his love and passion for the outdoors and hunting. He explains how he, as a special forces officer in the army, ended up becoming a children's book author. We also discussed various strategies on how we think hunter recruitment can be increased. We also discuss how having a desire to be outdoors seems to be something that all kids are born with and then lose based on the environment that they are raised in. He also touches briefly on the struggles he faced in order to get the book published. Lastly, he spends some time discussing his future plans of developing a non-profit organization that specializes in introducing young children from single parents to hunting and then outdoors.
