The Thoughtful Leader Podcast

Business

Have you ever fallen into the trap where you think you know what your team members want? And perhaps you've made assumptions based on your own experience and preferences.  In other words, you've assumed you know what your team members like, dislike or want to achieve in their careers, because you think they are just like you! This is a cognitive bias known as the "False Consensus" effect. Basically, this means in our head, we tell ourselves that other people are just like us.  Unfortunately, this can have a negative impact on the way we lead our teams. In this episode, I cover some of the bad things that can happen when we fall prey to this effect - and of course some of the ways we can try to avoid it in our teams! -- Don't forget to try my new YouTube Channel for more great leadership resources - it's different than the podcast, so be sure to try it out!
