Submitting your podcast to major directories is one of the most important steps in creating and publishing a podcast. To start your distribution process submit your podcast on Gaana. Gaana has more than 185 million monthly active users that will help you in reaching different sets of audiences and increase your podcast discovery.
While you can reach a global audience through other platforms, Gaana’s directory will help you in reaching your target Indian audience.
To know how to submit your podcast to Gaana manually, refer to this step-by-step guide that will walk you through the entire submission process.
How to submit to Gaana
Step 1: Create your RSS feed link
To submit your podcast to Gaana’s directory, you will have to first create your podcast RSS feed link. If you haven’t created one yet, then you can create your RSS feed link on Hubhopper Studio for free. Once you go live with your podcast, your RSS feed link will appear in your Hubhopper studio dashboard.
Step 2: Meet the requirements
Before submitting your podcast to any directory, make sure that you meet its requirements. Have a look at Gaana’s RSS feed requirements below:
- You must own the rights to the RSS Feed.
- Your RSS feed should be in the standard RSS feed format i.e. it should have xmlns:itunes tags and also have value.
- It must contain a valid audio file link either in link tag or inside in closure tag (url).
- Your RSS feed must contain at least one episode.
- Make sure you have access to the email ID linked to your RSS Feed.
Step 3: Create an account on Gaana
To create an account on Gaana, you will have to enter your details like name, address, number, and producer name. In the producer name input field, you should enter your company’s name if you are a podcast company/network and if you are an individual then mention your own name.
Once you submit the details, Gaana will send you a verification email on your email address.
The verification is done to ensure that you own the podcast. After you verify your email you will have a Gaana account ready.
Step 4: Log in to your account
Now that you have created your account, use those credentials to log in.
Step 5: Enter RSS feed link
The next step is an important one in the entire podcast submission process i.e, adding your RSS feed link to the directory. RSS feed contains all the information about your podcast shows and episodes like title, cover art, description, and more.
Along with your RSS feed link, you will also have to enter other details like podcast name, primary language, podcast category and podcast tag.
Complete this step by agreeing and accepting Gaana’s terms and conditions and submitting all the details.
After you submit your podcast to gaana, it will go through an internal approval process. This review process ideally takes 4-5 working days. Once your podcast is reviewed and approved it will appear in Gaana’s directory.
If a podcast gets rejected, then it might be because the podcast contains derogatory content that might hurt the sentiments of a large group or the user doesn’t have the necessary rights to the content. To resolve this issue, one can write to Gaana at ‘Ask a Query’ on the website.
